To Please God
God cares deeply about our lives and does not intend for serving Him to be overly burdensome. So, how can we truly please God and serve Him as He desires?
Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that it is impossible to please God without faith. This verse highlights two essential beliefs: first, that God exists; and second, that He rewards those who sincerely and diligently seek Him. Merely believing in God's existence isn't enough; we must also trust that He will reward our genuine efforts to follow Him. This involves putting our whole heart into our faith, trusting that God will bless us and reveal Himself in our lives. In essence, faith is more than just belief—it is a confident trust that God will honor our honest pursuit of Him and that He is always present. To truly please God, we must seek Him with diligence and sincerity.
In Mark 10:29-30, Jesus speaks about the sacrifices made by those who follow Him. He promises that anyone who leaves behind family, possessions, or even personal comfort for His sake will be rewarded abundantly—receiving homes, friends, blessings in this life, and eternal life in the next. This serves as a reminder that following God may involve sacrifices, but these sacrifices are always worthwhile. Whether here on earth or in eternity, trusting in God and remaining committed to Him will bring blessings, regardless of the hardships or sacrifices along the way.
Historically, religious leaders had made it nearly impossible to be deemed righteous before God due to an overwhelming number of laws and rules. They created standards that no one could fully keep. But Jesus challenged this system. He taught that all the commandments hinge on two fundamental principles:
Matthew 22:36-40, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments."
